Writing for Secular World Magazine

Our Purpose

Secular World Magazine is published by The Secular Community and provides a platform for voices committed to reason, evidence, and human progress.

We believe in open inquiry, constructive dialogue, and global cooperation as essential tools for addressing the challenges facing humanity today.

Our aim is not only to question outdated frameworks, but to explore practical, forward-looking ways of living well in a secular world.

What We Publish

We are interested in articles that contribute meaningfully to a global conversation about how we live, think, and move forward together.

Topics may include:

  • Living a meaningful and ethical life without religion
  • Science, critical thinking, and evidence-based perspectives
  • Addressing global challenges such as climate change, inequality, and misinformation
  • Secular governance, human rights, and social progress
  • Environmental responsibility and sustainability
  • Cultural perspectives that promote global understanding
  • Practical ideas for improving quality of life and strengthening communities

We particularly value writing that connects ideas to real-world impact.

Our Perspective

Human civilization is at a crossroads.

Scientific and technological progress has brought extraordinary benefits, but it has also created complex global challenges that require thoughtful, coordinated solutions.

We take the view that these challenges are best addressed through reason, evidence, and shared human responsibility, rather than through religious or supernatural frameworks.

Our goal is to highlight ideas that contribute to a more just, sustainable, and compassionate future.

What We Look For in Submissions

We welcome contributions that are:

  • Thoughtful and well-reasoned
  • Grounded in evidence or lived experience
  • Constructive in tone and forward-looking
  • Accessible to a general audience

Strong submissions do more than express an opinion — they clarify, explore, or advance an idea.

What We Avoid

To maintain a constructive and solution-oriented focus, we generally do not publish:

  • Content that is primarily anti-religion without offering deeper insight
  • Angry or confrontational pieces
  • Low-effort opinion writing without supporting reasoning
  • Highly partisan political advocacy without broader context

We are less interested in reaction and more interested in progress.

Article Guidelines

  • Length: typically 800–1200 words
  • Clear structure and headings are encouraged
  • Sources should be included where appropriate
  • Personal perspective is welcome when connected to broader ideas

Submission Requirements

  • Submissions must be original work and not previously published elsewhere (including personal blogs or other websites)
  • By submitting, you confirm that the work is your own and does not infringe on any copyrights
  • At this time, Secular World Magazine is not able to offer payment for contributions

We appreciate your understanding as we continue to grow and expand the publication.

How to Submit

You may submit either:

  • A short proposal (2–3 paragraphs describing your idea), or
  • A completed draft

Please send submissions to:

A Final Note

Some of the most insightful ideas about secular life emerge in everyday conversations — in communities, discussions, and personal reflection.

Secular World Magazine exists to bring those ideas into a broader and more impactful conversation.

If you have something thoughtful and constructive to contribute, we would be glad to hear from you.
